10th Green Standards Week will be in Webinar format

Friday, 10th December, 2021. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), together with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica, the Institute of Digital Development for Latin America and the Caribbean – IDD LAC; UNIDO; CR Basel; together with other United Nations entities and agencies, announce that from the 14th to 16th December 2021, the 10th Green Standards Week will take place.
Green Standards Week, is an annual event where standards experts, urban planners, politicians, specialists from industry, civil society and other global stakeholders come together to discuss the latest trends in information and communication technology. (ICT) and digital transformation to accelerate sustainable development around the world.
Various personalities have confirmed their attendance, such as Chaesub Lee, Director, Bureau for Telecommunication Standardization, ITU; the Minister of Health of Costa Rica, Daniel Salas; and Teodoro Willink, Vice Minister of Telecommunications, Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT), Costa Rica and many other multistakeholder referents, such as IDD LAC Director, Andrés Sastre.
The objective of the 10th edition is to discuss the latest e-waste management trends and explore the road to achieving sustainable digital transformation in Latin America. The region has undertaken remarkable measures and initiatives to tackle the e-waste and sustainability challenges. During the event the case study on the implementation of ITU-T standards and sustainable management of E-waste and circular economy in Costa Rica will be launched.
At the 10th Green Standards Week, experts and panelists from the Latin America region will share their experiences and highlight the role of international standards in achieving net-zero within the ICT sector and bringing sustainability to digital transformation.
